I-ACT Continues to Add Sites to Its Growing Hospital & University Site Network
Recruiting a sufficient number of participants to complete a pediatric trial is often a major limitation within an efficacious study. To combat this issue, the Institute for Advanced Clinical Trials for Children (I-ACT for Children) is constructing a network of hospital centers and university sites that have demonstrated the appropriate resources to carry out pediatric clinical trials. The I-ACT Site Network has been vetted on criteria that include commitment from institutional leadership, a site champion, a clinical trial or research operations director, quality assurance, an established clinical trials unit, regulatory experience, an investigational pharmacist, and inpatient and outpatient facilities to conduct clinical trials. This network will work to become trial ready to enable sites to expedite study start up activities, shorten the time to enroll subjects, and standardize practices across sites to improve the overall success rate of pediatric clinical trials. Sponsors interested in conducting pediatric clinical trials will be able to leverage this network to reach more patients in a shorter time and have a better chance of achieving trial completion.
We are currently at 21 sites and our network continues to grow. We expect to have 40 to 50 sites by the end of 2018. A full list of sites can be viewed on our Site Network Page.
