Lisa Benson, BS, CCRP, CRCP joins I-ACT for Children as Vice President, Clinical Research Operations, Quality and Education.

The Institute for Advanced Clinical Trials for Children (aka, I-ACT for Children) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Benson to the position of Vice President, Clinical Research Operations, Quality and Education, beginning June 5. Lisa is a highly-respected research administrator and clinical operations expert.  She comes to I-ACT for Children from the Department of Research at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Hartford, CT where she currently directs Research Operations and Sponsored Program, including the Clinical Trials Unit, Research Compliance, Research Finance, Contracts, and Grants. She has extensive experience in site management and quality, inter-institutional collaborations, and decision analytics.

Ms. Benson worked in multiple therapeutic areas, including pediatric oncology, and in many roles in clinical research over 30 years.  She is a Certified Clinical Research Contract Professional (CRCP) and Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) and has served as board member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).  She has held leadership roles for the Clinical Research Associates of the Children’s Oncology Group.  Lisa is a well-known educator in pediatric clinical research operations and administration, serving on the faculty of SOCRA, invited speaker at the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) and author of professional publications in the field.

Lisa will join the leadership team of I-ACT for Children, focusing on external infrastructure development and working to establish best practices and common tools for pediatric clinical trials.  Lisa will lead educational programs and work to ensure engagement of patients, parents, children or all ages, and research staff in the Institute’s activities.  Lisa is a highly dedicated and experienced pediatric research professional and we look forward to working with her to accomplish I-ACT for Children’s mission.
