Welcome to the Institute for Advanced Clinical Trials for Children, aka I-ACT for Children!
The Institute is a milestone in decades of work by the pediatric clinical research community to ensure that the use of therapies in children is based on the same quality evidence as afforded adults. In 2014, the American Academy of Pediatrics held a Clinical Trials Stakeholders Forum that called for a new vision and a sustainable infrastructure for pediatric clinical trials.
In 2015, Critical Path Institute launched the Pediatric Trials Consortium to provide advice and recommendations for the creation of a new independent non-profit organization to move the recommendations of the Stakeholder’s Forum forward. The Pediatric Trials Consortium, which included more than 30 diverse stakeholder organization, completed its Advisory Report in short order and with this in hand, Critical Path Institute established the Institute (I-ACT for Children) as a 501(c)3 non-profit and appointed its founding Directors and Officers in 2016. The Institute is working to complete the necessary steps to formally launch in 2017.
Currently, we are continuing to raise the necessary seed funding; enroll and engage founding members and institutions; and set vanguard priorities and projects. On behalf of the Directors and Officers of the Institute, I would like to thank Critical Path Institute and all the organizations and individuals that have worked so hard to establish I-ACT for Children.
We are proud of the progress that the Institute has made to date and look forward with enthusiasm to its formal launch in 2017.
